Kay Brothers Basket Press Grenache
The Kay Family has been synonymous with the McLaren Vale region for over 125 years. In 1890 Herbert and Frederick Kay purchased the Amery property and give years later produced their first vintage. The borthers enjoyed a remarkably long partenrship until Fred's death in 1947. When Herbert died the following year, the transition to the next generation in the form of Cuthbert 'Cud' Day was complete. Today the family continues the winemaking tradition in the heritage listed stone cellars. The wine was days on skins prior to putting the 1928 French basket press into action. The wine was matured for 10 months in aged French oak puncheons. Lifted pretty aromatics of rose petals and cherries. Rich strawberry conserve and morello cherry followed by soft gentle tannin and refreshing acidity. Bright, elegant and delicious.
