The Overberg vineyard has Tafelberg Sandstone, whose stony soils contribute a flinty minerality. The grapes from Elgin add a balancing component of fresh, zesty acidity. The Stellenbosch vineyard is near the ocean, and the cooling winds add a saline quality to the grapes. French oak was used for barrel maturation, primarily neutral oak, but with about 15% new oak. Regular stirring of the lees added a fuller body and balanced acidity.
